The purpose of this website is to keep my friends and family (namely: you) updated on my year abroad in Oxford, England (and my adventures...0r misadventures, around Europe). I will have an additional website that will have only photos of my trip soon!
AHHH! I can't believe I'm leaving tomorrow!
Today was crazy, to say the least. I woke up this morning with every intention to finish packing. Of course, fate had something else to say about it. Although I know you all think that I am the smartest and most responsible person in the world (which I am, most of the time) I managed to lose my passport, my birth certificate, and my social security card. I thought I was being conscientious yesterday when I went to get all three of those documents photocopied. On the extremely rare chance that I should lose them in England, I wanted my mom to have copies to fax me over. I wasn't really planning on leaving them at Staples though....maybe it really was a good idea to have those copied!
Therefore, instead of spending the morning packing, I spent the morning unpacking what I had already packed looking for what I had lost. then, I spent the afternoon repacking.. it was a headache. I guess there is something to be said for doing things in advance at least..
I was also able to visit my Grandma this afternoon for a little bit. Tonight I'm going to my dad's for my last dinner. Last night, my mom, my grandma, my aunt Alice, my cousin Marianne, and josh ate an amazing lobster pie at home. It was a really good time.
Tomorrow, my mom, josh and Tristan are driving me to Logan Airport (Boston). The flight leaves at 7:35 at night, and arrives at Heathrow Airport in London at 6:55 AM (their time, it will be 12:55 AM EST). After going through customs and calling my parents, I will take a bus to Oxford (about an hour away), and then a taxi to my college. When I arrive there, I'll receive my room assignment. Then, the rest will be an adventure!
I'll write more about classes, my living arrangements, etc. when I find out more!!
